Colour and waste is a colour catalogue of recipes and reflections from a year-long research project for applied graphic arts. The research extends from pigment extraction to silk screen printing, etching and crayons-making techniques. In this book we, the Dying Nature Collective, explore the possibilities of colour extraction from organic waste from the cut-flower industry. We focus on waste as a valuable resource and look for artistic and entrepreneurial opportunities within the field of circularity. The cut-flower industry is one that appears attractive, yet has a dark side that relies heavily on pesticides, water and transport. All this for the fleeting pleasure of a bouquet of flowers.
