Long before it became known as Picentia, Amina was a vibrant, autonomous city with a deeply Mediterranean character.This book tells its story: a dynamic and complex Etruscan-Campanian centre, active in the trade routes and political systems of pre-Roman Italy. Amina had its own institutions, temples, necropolises, settlement patterns, and expressions of power-features that make it one of the most fascinating laboratories of ancient Italian civilisation.Drawing on archaeological, epigraphic, and historical sources, the volume reconstructs Amina's role within the network of central Tyrrhenian cities between the 8th and 3rd centuries BCE, up to the rupture marked by the Roman conquest and the city's refoundation under the name Picentia.
