Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) constitute a dynamic yet structurally constrained segment of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, frequently limited in their capacity for sustained growth and innovation. This scientific monograph, within the disciplinary domain of Business Economics, concentrates on innovative startups, a legal category formally introduced in the Italian regulatory framework through Decree-Law No. 179/2012. Innovative start-ups' core purpose is the development, production, and commercialization of innovative goods or services with high technological value. By definition, these enterprises require a high degree of Intellectual Capital. In particular, the volume investigates the strategic role of Relational Capital, as a key intangible asset capable of mitigating resource constraints and enabling the development of innovation-driven business models. The challenges encountered by innovative start-ups are further exacerbated in the context of female entrepreneurship, where the structural limitations intersect with additional barriers of a personal and socio-cultural nature. For this reason, the present monograph focuses on female-led innovative startups, analyzing the qualitative characteristics of their relational capital. Aimed at students, scholars, practitioners, and policy makers, this research contributes to offer both theoretical insights and actionable recommendations to advance a more competitive, sustainable, equitable entrepreneurial landscape.
