Italy's economy has made extraordinary progress in recent years. Its post-pandemic recovery has been one of the most robust of the G7 both in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) and GDP per capita. Its increased competitiveness in exports has also been fuelled by substantial investments in machinery and new technologies under the Industry 4.0 Plan. Recently, sectors such as in food, pharmaceuticals, industrial machinery, luxury and design goods, motor yachts and cruise ships have seen significant growth in exports. Italy even surpassed Japan to become the world's fourth-largest exporter in the first half of 2024. The volume includes «The Italian Economy in the G7 Outlook: A World Leading Country in Manufacturing, Technology, Agriculturand Tourism» which was released on the occasion of Italy's G7 presidency. This report was prepared by the Edison Foundation in collaboration with the CRANEC Research Centre in Economic Analysis of Università Cattolica; it provides detailed statistics on Italy's economic progress and strengths.
