Villa Rosa, an Art Nouveau building, designed and built by the architect Nicoḷ Campora around 1905, houses the Altarese Glass Art Museum. The building is testimony to the wealth and well-being achieved by the Altare area through the production and marketing of glass. The structure was purchased by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in 1992 to be used as a museum; the restoration and adaptation works, conducted by the Superintendence for Architectural and Landscape Heritage of Liguria, were completed in 2005. The Municipality of Altare took care of setting up the museum and transferring the collection to the Villa, which was then opened to the public in 2006. The museum itinerary offers visitors a review of works ranging from the eighteenth century to the present day, as well as tools for artisanal glass processing. There are multimedia supports to illustrate all the processing phases.
