What is the degree of inequality characterizing our societies? And what is the impact of welfare policies on social stratification? The book proposes empirical analyses on different domains of inequality (social stratification, health inequality, economic inequality, environmental inequality) focusing on territorial heterogeneity and on the possible causes. From the analyses, it emerges the need to redefine the welfare policies in the context of current global problems also considering the macroeconomic sustainability of public finances.
